DEFINITION
Strategy is the set of actions carried out to achieve a goal. The word derives from the Greek stratos meaning “army” and ageîn meaning “to lead”.
The term comes from the word for war. Strategy is the subject of study by theorists such as General Sun Tzu in the fourth century BC, Polyen, Nicéphore Phocas, Niccolò Machiavelli, Carl von Clausewitz, Charles De Gaulle, Beatrice Heuser and many others.
INTERPRETATION
In my opinion, strategy goes far beyond the framework of war and in fact, “new theories of strategy” are emerging on all sides in the business world, in politics and even in video games. It would seem that everyone wants to put on the general’s mantle in order to give his action a remarkable height.
It’s not a criticism because there’s some truth to it. Strategy transcends the question of war.
There is this conviction that the art of strategy obeys a set of universal principles, or rules, which do not respond to thematic, temporal, technical or cultural considerations, but, on the contrary, are valid at all times and in all spaces.
The art of strategy is a universal whole whose outcome is success or victory in all things.
The strategist is the architect of this success.
This blog will question the universalism of strategic principles.
